YOUNGEST COMMISSIONER OF THE INDIGENOUS DEMOCRACY DEFENCE ORGANIZATION (IDDO) APPOINTED YOUTH PANEL COMMISSIONER FOR THE INTERNATIONAL COMMISSION ON FINANCING GLOBAL OPPORTUNITY!

Commissioner of Indigenous Youth Affairs of the Indigenous Democracy Defence Organization (IDDO) Ramon Montano (Marquez) of the Kickapoo, Kumeyaay-Pa'Ipai Tribal Nations; at work in Washington DC

Speaking in the U.S. House of Representatives on behalf of the 58 million children currently out of school. He was able to speak on the launch of the Congressional International Basic Education Caucus on behalf of the Summer 2015 Youth Advocacy Training of the Global Campaign for Education US and current Youth Advocates for global education.

June 24 at 2:50pm in Ramon's own words:
"I was very blessed to have been one of the selected speakers for the Congressional International Basic Education Caucus launch yesterday, history was made as a young indigenous advocate was able to speak in front of key players of international education and a few members of congress."

>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>>

Here is the latest development in the ascending star of this young man's bright future that lies ahead of him as he has just been appointed Youth Panel Commissioner for The International Commission on Financing Global Education Opportunity! :

"What more can I say about Ramon Montano? Well perhaps my first impression of him might give you quite a good idea of him......I met Ramon at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues (UNPFII) in 2014, he had a lot to say, but not the volumes of idle chit chat you expect from the average young person today....no...Ramon was focused even then, on the education of native youth worldwide - not just in the USA....and this is what impressed me - and made me reach out to Ray and offer him a place on the growing global team of some of the best & brightest rising or already shining stars in the indigenous human rights cosmos.

Ray accepted, and became the youngest member of our worldwide Indigenous Democracy Defence Organization team, and he continues to demonstrate his credentials to stand shoulder to shoulder with us older fighters as we move forward in solidarity - trying to do whatever we can to help offer solutions to the many problems indigenous peoples face all over the Earth.

I only wish that we may find MORE positively focused native youth to join us, so that my generation can end our days content in the knowledge that a new equally capable younger generation will continue to take their place on the front lines of the indigenous human rights battles yet to come."

Damon Gerard Corrie - Chairman of the Defence Committee of the Indigenous Democracy Defence Organization (IDDO); which has it's office headquarters in the politically neutral Independent Caribbean Island Nation of Barbados.

KENYAN GOVERNMENT RENEWS COVERT PERSECUTION OF THE ANCIENT HUNTER-GATHERER OGIEK TRIBAL NATION - OGIEK ELDER STEPHEN MUNYIRIRI MURDERED!

The Kenyan government continues with its unofficial genocidal policy of intimidation, harassment, arbitrary arrests and persecution of the ancient and peaceful hunter-gatherer indigenous Ogiek Tribal Nation of Kenya...this time using members of the Tugen community to do their dirty work for them....so then achieve 'plausible deniability' as the hidden third hand in the crisis.
After a whole week of demolition and destruction of Ogiek houses and property by the security personnel in the company of armed goons hired by the government-connected land grabbers of Ogiek ancestral land, the situation worsened on Sunday 13th March 2016) after an Ogiek elder & grandfather - Mr. Stephen Munyiriri - was shot in the head at close range dying on the spot after confronting well-connected land grabber Mr. Kiprotich Komen - that the fence posts he was erecting on Ogiek land was illegal.
Mr Komen, who later presented himself to the police, was Monday charged with murder in the High Court in Nakuru.
Lady Justice Janet Mulwa allowed the application by the prosecution to have the accused remanded at Njoro Police Station pending investigations into the incident.
The accused will again be arraigned in court on March 21, 2016 for further directions....but the Ogiek suspect he will get away with his crimes against them as usual.
During the Sunday night retaliation attacks, more than 20 houses - ALL Ogiek - were destroyed despite a heavy presence of police.
Komen is a well connected individual within the government circles that allows him to do as he pleases to these poor native peoples; he committed the offense in full presence of the security personnel and the Njoro sub county commissioner himself.
More Kenyan Government security personnel have been brought in, in the pretext of maintaining law and order but in reality they are merely hunting down members of the Ogiek in their villages.
The Ogiek had contested the land in question for the last 18 years and a 'final legal judgement' was delivered on March 2014 in their favor. The same Government has failed to honor the court decision by implementing it - and instead is hell bent on a policy of GENOCIDE of the Ogiek Tribal Nation who are being forcibly evicted, imprisoned, or killed if they resist.
NB - Pay attention here, this info was sent to the Indigenous Democracy Defense Organization (IDDO) for which I am the Chairman of the Defence Committee,  on the same day this was published here by a member of the Ogiek Tribal Nation who only just heard about this organization, he reached out to the IDDO for help, and the IDDO have hidden his name to protect him - and sent his info all over the world to raise awareness of the crisis that has befallen his people, we can help you as QUICKLY and as SIMPLY as that.....when your people face an emergency and you want to the world to know - just contact us with as much facts & details as you can - and we WILL take it from there and inform world media on your behalf as a FREE service to indigenous peoples worldwide.
This is one of the main reasons we were created and why we proudly exist as a unique indigenous global platform for this very purpose.

I encourage all to visit the IDDO site, click like, follow, and share - to help raise awareness of our 100% indigenous run organization:

GOVERNOR MALLOY OF CONNECTICUT AND HIS CRONIES SEEK TO DENY THE SCHAGHTICOKE FIRST NATIONS (NOT to be confused with the 'Schaghticoke Tribal Nation) RIGHT TO LEGAL RECOGNITION !

I have posted these 3 pages so you can read for yourself why the Schaghticoke First Nations (under it's young, dynamic and very capable Chief/Sachem Hawk Storm/Robert Birch) has a SOLID (and Bureau of Indian Affairs accepted) LEGAL and inherent right (by International Legal Standards) to official recognition by the United States Government; despite what the Governor Daniel Malloy of Connecticut would like to sabotage in the legal arena and in the Court of Public Opinion

On a personal level, I find it very uplifting to know that an unbroken line of descent from the first great Native leader of North America from the origins of the United States of America as we know it today, is still alive and willing to accept his inherited RESPONSIBILITY to contribute to the higher good of his people.   Ignorant people like to dismiss any and ALL claims of 'descent from historical figures' as Chief Robert Birch can claim....but their is a BIG difference between one who merely 'claims' and one who can PROVE their descent......we all know there are many impostors who claim all kinds of things, but you need to use what I call 'investigative intelligence' to find out if the claims can be supported by names, dates, documents & photographic evidence (where possible)...BEFORE you jump to an uninformed hasty and MISTAKEN conclusion about who is a 'pretendian' or a bona-fide descendant - as Chief Robert Birch is. It is never anyone's fault for being of mixed descent, what choices our parents made was completely beyond our control...so never judge the 'mixed race' look of anyone as your basis for accepting or rejecting their claims.....for their are many who 'look pure' - who have done - and do - NOTHING for the greater good of ANY native people, and there are those who 'look mixed' who dedicate their entire lives to the greater good of their native people.

LET THESE FACTS SPEAK FOR THEMSELVES:

There is MUCH hoopla about the 'Schaghticokes wanting Casinos', but I know Chief Robert Birch personally and I can tell you for the record that HIS people the SCHAGHTICOKES FIRST NATIONS  - do NOT want any Casino. He is no fool, and he said to me himself while we were together at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues in New York City in 2015 - when I asked him about this topic; and he said - and I quote:

"Damon, I am very aware that the invisible third hand of organised crime often inserts itself in any 'gaming enterprise' that is created in the USA - and around the world for that matter, followed by addictions to spiritually dead ways; and that is not the path of honor our ancestors walked and died upon so we could be here today".

IF YOU WANT TO SERVE HUMANITY - YOU MUST THINK LESS ABOUT 'ME' AND MORE ABOUT 'WE' - ESPECIALLY AT THE UNITED NATIONS!

At the UNPFII all standing in solidarity with a member of our Tribal Link Family as she read one of the most applauded statements on behalf of Disabled Indigenous People ever read at the UN.
At Columbia University in New York City
Part of the Tribal Link Global Indigenous family
UN Secretary General Ban Ki-Moon with Taino brother Roberto Mukaro Borrero

DEDICATION is important - but so is EMPATHY, at the United Nations Permanent Forum on Indigenous Issues just about EVERYONE goes there with a determination to 'speak on behalf of their own Tribal Nation.

When I first went there in 2007 I had the SAME focus and intention (to 'speak on behalf of my own Lokono-Arawak people), but I was fortunate to have benefited from the Project Access Training program by the Tribal Link Foundation PRIOR to the UNPFII opening.....so I - (and all my colleagues who were trained that year, about 20 in all) was mentally AND spiritually prepared more than EVERYONE else coming to it for the first time - who did NOT receive this priceless training experience.

The opportunity for me to speak live in the UNPFII came up for me, but when I realized that other indigenous peoples had BIGGER issues that needed to be addressed MORE urgently, I gave my opportunity to others who were more in need of having their more serious problems aired publicly at the UN.

Some people who have no clue about the real workings of this UN process have the silly notion that if you don't get to personally speak there - you have 'wasted' your time being there. I forgive them for their ignorance, they were not there so they do not know that the knowledge of the inner workings of the UN system - and the invisible bonds of solidarity and global networking among indigenous representatives & leaders we forge in our training - is THE most important benefit we can gain by being their as well as having our issues become part of the official UN records....and this can be done by submission of text whether you get to speak into a live microphone or not.

Like all my mentoring colleagues I have submitted on my own - multiple documents on behalf of Lokono, Kalinago, Wapishana & Makushi leaders, and many more documents in collaboration with indigenous representatives & leaders from around the world. I have been there long enough to see a news article I wrote that was published in several countries - which I turned into a report that I also submitted about the plight of Guarani still living a modern day Conquistador style 'encomienda system' in the Paraguay/Bolivia border area - get officially investigated by the UN 3 years later.

My Taino sister Tai Pelli and I were among the first to alert the UN to human rights abuses of Indigenous Crimean Tatars the very day emergency alerts reached us by private e-mails from our Tatar brother there - who was in our training program with us and who has himself been the victim of abuse by Russian entities). Heck, we even created the world's first Global Indigenous entity dedicated to overtly exposing and covertly non-lethally assisting - Indigenous victims of severe governmental abuse worldwide (The Indigenous Democracy Defence Organization/IDDO)....all this as a result of our eyes being fully opened by the training we received by the Tribal Link Foundation.
There is a very good chance that I will be at the UNPFII again this year, and there is also a very good chance that if I get the opportunity to raise only ONE critical issue, I will decide to raise the life & death plight of any other people who are literally suffering more than my own people....because if you want to be a real leader - you must train yourself to have EMPATHY FOR OTHERS and to readily give priority to your fellow indigenous brothers and sisters - if/when their problems are far bigger - or far worse than those of your own people.

The UNPFII is NOT a place to go to if your intention is to 'make a name for yourself' and get 'famous on the indigenous activist scene'.....a hell of a lot of SELFLESSNESS and SOLIDARITY and helping each other anonymously behind the scenes goes on there than you can possibly imagine......some of us help write the statements that others read - and you see being received with thunderous applause and standing ovations. I have never spoken live at the UN, but I have written things for others who have - and that is enough for me.

I salute the other quiet helpers (Andrea, Ghazali, Carl, Tai, Roberto) burning their proverbial candles at both ends mentoring & guiding the new recruits to the global indigenous rights struggle!

RUSSIA DECLARES WAR ON INDIGENOUS TATARS OF CRIMEA - WILL THE WORLD DO NOTHING TO STOP PUTIN AS HE BECOMES THE NEW STALIN OF OUR TIME?

Former chairman of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatars Mustafa Dzhemilev walks near a checkpoint in Kherson region as he attempts to get to the territory of Crimea, near the city of Armyansk, May 3, 2014. In an online statement, the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar People said Dzhemilev, a member of the Ukrainian parliament and the former chairman of the Mejlis, had been handed a notice banning him from Russia for five years as he crossed back to mainland Ukraine after a weekend in Crimea. Two years after invading and annexing Crimea, Russia appears ready to outlaw the Crimean Tatar Mejlis, the representative body of the largest indigenous people of the peninsula. The behavior which Russia deems “extremist” is essentially the Mejlis’ implacable, but always peaceful, opposition to Russia’s occupation.

It is unclear whether Western countries will respond with more than words of deep concern if the Mejlis and its 2,300 representatives at various levels are criminalized. At present, the West is largely silent, although the danger is real and immediate. As early as March 10, Russia could criminalize the Mejlis. The court proceedings now underway may be a formality, with the decision already made in Moscow; however, members of the Mejlis are determined to assert their rights to the end.

The offensive was condemned in a recent resolution from the European Parliament that recognizes Crimean Tatars as an indigenous people of Crimea whose right to self-government is protected under the UN Declaration on Rights of Indigenous Peoples. It calls for “respect for the Mejlis as the legitimate representation of the Crimean Tatar community, and for avoidance of any harassment and systematic persecution of its members.”

Oliver Loode, a member of the UN Forum on Indigenous Issues, calls representative bodies like the Mejlis the main vehicles for indigenous people to exercise their human rights. “If a representative body is banned, this is not just a hostile act towards a particular organization, in this case the Mejlis. It’s really an attack against the people, in this case Crimean Tatars.”

The offensive against the Mejlis began soon after Russia realized it could not force or bribe it into submission. Beginning in March 2014, the Mejlis called on all Crimean Tatars to boycott the pseudo-referendum with which Russia tried to justify its annexation of Ukrainian territory. Soon after, veteran Crimean Tatar leader and Ukrainian MP Mustafa Dzhemiliev was banned from his homeland, and the same thing then happened to the Head of the Mejlis, Refat Chubarov. The fact that the Crimean Tatar people as a whole were under attack was vividly demonstrated by Russia’s attempt to ban all remembrance gatherings on May 18, 2014, the seventieth anniversary of Stalin’s deportation of the entire Crimean Tatar people.

The offensive intensified in September 2014, and since January 2015, the Deputy Head of the Mejlis Akhtem Chiygoz has been arrested and imprisoned.

As early as autumn 2014, the Russian media began making unfounded claimsabout rampant “Muslim radicalism”’ among Crimean Tatars. In October 2015,allegations were even presented—without any glimmer of credibility—that Crimean Tatar leaders were recruiting fighters for the Islamic State.

In fact, the main word bandied around from the outset has been “extremism”: it is effectively used against anyone daring to express opposition to Russian occupation. The threat to ban the Mejlis as “extremist” was first made in the fall of 2015. Both last year and again this February, occupation authorities resorted to Soviet methods by claiming that they were responding to complaints from Crimean Tatar organizations.

The arguments thus far presented have been legally nonsensical and profoundly cynical. The de facto prosecutor Natalya Poklonskaya even presented “warnings of the inadmissibility of extremist behavior,” as though such warnings proved that the actual behavior had taken place.

A verbal warning was issued to Refat Chubarov after the events on May 3, 2014. Since those events are now being cited as evidence of “extremism,” it is worth recalling what took place. On May 2, it became clear—despite denials in the Russian media—that Moscow really had banned Dzhemiliev from Crimea. After he was prevented from boarding a plane to Simferopol, the Mejlis called on Crimean Tatars and other Ukrainians to come to the border to meet the then 71-year-old world-renowned leader. Around five thousand people arrived, with Dzhemiliev coming from Kyiv by car. Plans to escort him to Simferopol were, however, put aside because of the huge contingent of Russian riot police present and the strong likelihood of bloodshed.

The events that day were later used as a pretext for repressive measures, and have now, incredibly, prompted criminal charges against Dzhemiliev—for trying to enter his own homeland. Nariman Dzhelyal, first deputy head of the Mejlis, points out, however, that no allegations were ever brought against the Mejlis. Attempts two years later to cite those events as evidence of the Mejlis’ “extremism” are absurd.

So too, however, is the reference to the Mejlis’ founding documents, and not only because these far precede Russia’s invasion and occupation of Crimea. The documents’ “extremism,” according to the prosecutor, lies in the Mejlis’ stated aim: the reinstatement of the Crimean Tatar people’s national and political rights, and the implementation of their right to free self-determination on their national territory, within Ukraine. For those who missed the “extremism,” it is allegedly hovering in the last word.

The intensified attack against the Mejlis, and the first threats to ban it, came shortly after the beginning of the Crimea blockade in September 2015. It is certainly easy to understand why the blockade angered Russia, highlighting as it did the critical degree to which Crimea is dependent on Ukraine for food, electricity, and water. Attempts to punish the Mejlis for this are, nonetheless, without any justification. Yes, it was Dzhemiliev and Chubarov who publicly called for a civic blockade of Crimea. But both are Ukrainian MPs and prominent public figures who were not speaking for the Mejlis. Nor did the latter have anything to do with the actual blockade, which was largely run by Lenur Islyamov, a person with no connection to the Mejlis.

Dzhemiliev has estimated that thirty-three members of the Mejlis itself, as well as around 2,300 Crimean Tatars involved in self-government at the regional level, could be at threat if Russia goes through with its plan to criminalize the Mejlis. All Crimean Tatars, however, are at risk—and at this point, the West has again stood back and done nothing.

STATEMENT of the Crimean Tatar public organizations participating in the elections  of the  delegates  for the VI Kurultay of the Crimean Tatar people
About inadmissibility of groundless accusations of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people of extremism with the aim of banning.
Crimean prosecutor's decision to go to court with an administrative lawsuit to ban the activities of the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, though was not a surprise, however, in terms of its justification appears contradictory,   as the international law  so the laws of the Russian Federation itself.
Moreover, an attempt to destroy the system of national self-government of the Crimean Tatar people - it is a challenge to international law in the field of indigenous rights. Being based on dubious "evidence"  the desire  to prosecute dissent under the guise of combating extremism, rises doubt in the actions of the prosecutor's office   from the moral point of view as well.
Based on the fact that:
- Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people, is not a public organization or a  political  party with like-minded members. In its present structure is a representative body, formed in November 2013, by the National Congress of the Crimean Tatar people - Kurultai, the delegates profess different political views, including those on the ways to achieving national goals for development and prosperity;
- An attempt to destroy the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people is also a massacre of the entire system of national government agencies, including the National Congress - Kurultai, and therefore, the actions the prosecutor's office of the Crimea can not be regarded otherwise than gross violation of the basic rights of indigenous people of Crimea on the formation of their representative bodies;
- All claims to the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people regarding it's "extremism" built on false accusations without specifying the relevant evidence concerning the activities of those of its members who live today directly on the territory of Crimea,
We, the undersigned representatives of of public organizations who participated the elections of the delegates on VI Kurultay of the Crimean Tatar people on the basis of universal, equal and direct suffrage by secret ballot, considered unacceptable actions of Crimean prosecutor's office to ban the Mejlis of the Crimean Tatar people as the representative body of the indigenous people of Crimea.
